MORTON defender Zak Delaney wants to help bring the noise back to Cappielow by helping his side gain their first three points of the season against Airdrieonians.

The Irish left back remembers his first taste of Cappielow football, a Friday night under the lights, as Ton put his former side Inverness Caley Thistle to the sword.

And despite being on the wrong end of the scoreline that night in October 2022, he says the atmosphere generated is one he'll remember for the rest of his career - and one he wants to see recreated when the Diamonds come to town on Saturday.

"I think that coming back home will help us with that, in front of our own supporters. It was a disappointing result, especially after how well we'd started the first half.

"It was a bit of a sucker punch, conceding the goal when and how we did.  But we were well in the game and we were moving the ball about well.

"We are really hoping to make amends against Airdrie, and playing them back at Cappielow will help us try to do that.

"Lesser Hampden is a bit flat; that's quite a common feeling, because there's not many people there.

"I think here is widely regarded as a better atmosphere for both home and away players, so it's a better chance to have everyone behind us.

"Hopefully that means that it'll be a bit of a better game and we can respond with a better result.

"I remember that Friday night here, when Inverness got beat 4-0. It was special, and I want to recreate more times like that.

"I'll always remember it; it was carnage no matter where you were looking. I can only imagine what the boys felt like that night.

"We want to try and build that ourselves, but we need the results to start coming in in order to get that."
