PLAYMAKER Rachael McConnachie says that it feels like a full circle moment after sealing a stunning return to Cappielow to team up with Gary Forbes at Morton Women again.

McConnachie has returned to the club little over a year after leaving Inverclyde to join then SPWL 2 hopefuls Queen's Park, teaming up with former Ton teammate Caitlin McKee at Lochinch.

And Rachael admits that the possibility of making a return to Greenock as a champion never occurred to her.

And McConnachie says that Forbes played a huge factor in sealing a return to Sinclair Street.

"It's such a good feeling to be back," Rachael told the Tele.

"I had such a good season last time around up at Queen's Park with Craig Joyce, but when I saw that Gary had come back, it made sense to come home.

"I started my footballing journey here, and I'm looking forward to being back and playing football with my friends again.

"Gary was such a big factor in me coming back to the club.

"I was still with Queen's Park at the start of the summer, but even when I left he was there for me.

"He has been all the way through my footballing journey, always checking in on me and asking how I was getting on.

"We were always speaking back and forward over the course of the summer, so I am delighted to be back.

"It's a full circle moment for me, which is quite nice, because never did I expect to be a champion in SWPL 2, let alone come back to Morton as a champion."

Rachael hopes that the experience she picked up in Glasgow can be shared across the squad back at Cappielow as Ton look to consolidate themselves in the third tier.

The midfielder is adamant that it's an exciting time to come back to the club with both the women's and men's teams playing under the one banner.

She added: "I feel like everything I've learned from playing at that level can only be a good thing."

"Hopefully I can bring what I learned there back here to Morton, and try to lift the standard from what it's previously been.

"It's an exciting time to come back. You always want to build on what's been there before.

"But now the club has taken the women's team under its wing, and there's been more investment and time put in to it.

"I really believe that there's plenty of exciting things to come, for the team and for the club."
