INFECTIOUS Morton defender Cammy Ballantyne says all that mattered to him was getting three points as he admits the Cappielow men finally got their break.
The former Airdrieonians full-back was on hand to deal the hammer blow that'd ensure the Diamonds would be down and out as Ton rampaged to their first league win of the season.
The win saw Ton leapfrog his former side and Ballantyne admits that having that winning feeling felt good after a tumultuous week for the club. Jokingly, he believes he's had worse Saturdays after keeping the ball out at one end and providing the killer blow at the other.
"A goal's always nice as is a clean sheet," he told the Tele: I've certainly had worse Saturday's.
"I know I was obviously at at Airdrie last season, but that doesn't really matter. We could've been coming up against anybody today and I'd have wanted to get that first three points just as much. That's all I cared about.
"To score a goal is good, it's always good to contribute like that but my first goal is to always keep my clean sheet and build from there.
"That then gives the forward boys a chance to go and do their thing, which I think we did because we defended so well against Airdrie.
"The win couldn't have been a better ending to the week we've had. We're obviously aware of what had gone on off the field and had been booed off a week ago.
"The second half against Queen's Park wasn't good enough, but we've been in every game so there's been no doom and gloom. We know how good we can be, but we've not just been getting the breaks.
"Today it was good to get those breaks and get the three points, it's a really good feeling."
