MORTON defender Cammy Ballantyne has urged his teammates to kick on ahead of their trip to Ayr United this weekend.
The likeable Ton full-back wants to build up a head of steam after helping his side secure their first three points of the season against Airdrieonians.
And he urged his side to continue showing just how good a team that they can be when they make the journey to Somerset Park to face the league leaders on Saturday.
He told the Tele: "We want to kick on now. We know how good we can be as a team. So it was down to us to start taking our chances when they came along."
It was a near perfect day for Ballantyne last time around, keeping a clean sheet as well as all but confirming the victory against his former side.
And he wants to keep that feel-good factor for as long as possible by targeting another positive result to back up last week's victory.
"We've shown that when we can do that and that when we do, we're a good team so hopefully we can continue to get stronger now.
"I could've had another one against Airdrie, to be honest. Annoyingly, I've missed the easier one and scored the harder one.
"They can't always go in, though, and in fairness, my job is to keep them out of the net first and foremost.
"It couldn't have gone much better as an afternoon. It's always good to get your first three points, because when the weeks go on and on waiting for one, you're keen to get that off your back.
"It's a nice feeling, so to add that to the nice feeling of a clean sheet and a goal, Saturdays don't get much better.
"Hopefully there's more of those to come."
