MORTON boss Dougie Imrie says loan arrival Filip Stuparevic has all the tools required to be a Cappielow hit.

Imrie moved to fill the void left behind by Jay Emmanuel-Thomas - whose contract was dramatically terminated just over 10 days ago - by completing the loan move for Serbian striker Stuparevic who joined Motherwell in the summer.

The new No.9 came off the bench in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Ayr and Imrie says it's clear the qualities that he will bring to his side moving forward.

Pointing to the 24-year-old's movement and understanding of the game, Imrie declared that Stuparevic will be a big asset once he’s fully up to speed.

He told the Tele: “I’m delighted to get Filip on board, he fills the hole left behind by JET and brings quality to the squad.

“He’ll take a bit of time, which we’ll give him because he’s not really done anything since the cup games with Motherwell, where he scored against Clyde.

“He needs to get up to speed but it was good to get him on, you could see what he’ll bring us.

“He understands the game very well, he’s giving defenders a nudge to get a bit of time on the ball before it comes to him, to get that extra bit of time on the ball.

“Going forward, he’ll be a huge asset I'm sure.”
