MORTON boss Dougie Imrie was delighted to be able to put his side's Ayr disappointment behind them after bouncing back to pick up all three points against Raith Rovers.

Filip Stuparevic and Michael Garrity ensured that a stunning second half showing put Raith Rovers to the sword as Ton moved up to fifth in the Scottish Championship. And Imrie was delighted for his super Serb striker who netted his first goal for the club in his first home outing with a brilliant bullet header little after the half time interval.

"I'm delighted for the boys to have gotten a huge three points, especially after last week because we were really harshly treated," he told the Tele.

"But I thought that today they were superb from start to finish. Raith, with the good players that they've got, at times had good passages of play and moved the ball about but I thought we were clinical.

"Filip's header was fantastic and Michael's finish is exactly what he can do. You can see the difference that Filip brings to us.

"His hold up play at times could be better, but he's a real handful at the top end of the pitch. He doesn't allow any defender a minute on the ball and it's a great finish from a great ball in.

"I do think it could've been more. The atmosphere was really good today and I feel like that spurred the boys on a bit.

"We've had two penalties denied throughout the game as well, the second one is a clear handball and the first one Owen Moffat is in the box and the two of them sandwich him. I'm disappointed in that but I wouldn't expect anything less.

"I'm really pleased for the boys, because the week was really quite flat due to last week's incident.

"But I told them after the game 'how does that feel? We need more days like this.'

"That's two good performances at home back to back, four goals scored none conceded. Hopefully that's the catalyst that we can use to now kick on.

"When we have been beaten though, it's been down to some extraordinary decision making."

Imrie was able to crack a smile though when it came to a dramatic final few minutes that saw Ryan Mullen require attention on what looked to be a potentially serious ankle injury.

The moments that followed summed up following Morton down to a tee, as Cammy Ballantyne answered the call of duty to go in net only to be stood down at the last second.

He added: "My heart was in my mouth when Ryan's gone down, I thought he was getting air lifted to hospital because by all accounts his ankle had popped out.

"It was remarkable to see him pop back up like Lazarous. He'll be ok. Hopefully it's just a knock and he'll be ok.

"It was funny though, seeing Cammy run about like superman putting the goalie kit on and having to take it off again, but it's a great day and a special occasion to mark it with a win."
