MORTON defender Cammy Ballantyne says his side need to make Cappielow a place where opposing teams fear to tread after playing a big role in his team's second home win on the bounce.

The Ton defender says it's vital for any team in the Championship to make their home ground a fortress and he's been delighted to see that his side have only lost one of their opening six home fixtures to kick off the season.

Their latest win against Raith was particularly pleasing for the tenacious full-back - who now wants to see the team build on their good home form by picking up more points on the road.

"I felt that defensively we were very good," he said.

"We held our shape very well and were really organised.

"We had a couple of times in the first half where Raith broke down my side very well but Jack Baird was on hand to cover me.

"But in the second half, when you get the goal early you're feeling really good. When you get the second it just settles it a bit, especially not long after getting your first.

"They were always going to get a spell once we went 2-0 up, but it was a really good team performance.

"Even in the first two home games I felt like we could've had two wins. We really could've been undefeated here so far this season.

"We've put in four good performances at home against some very good teams, so it's now about us building on that by doing the same away from home.

"That's just about boys believing in themselves. As much as it's a cliche, you need to make your home a fortress.

"In this league you need to pick up as many wins as you can at home before picking up what you can away from home.

"If we keep putting in performances like that then we'll be okay."
