IT was a busy week in the Greenock Juniors youth set-up in a weekend that served up more cup thrills and league victories for the high flying Inverclyde club.
The Under 20s' fixture with Largs Thistle was postponed late on Friday afternoon after it became clear that Thistle were struggling to fulfil the fixture.
Had the game gone ahead and Greenock come out of the game victorious, they would be top of their conference.
Tomorrow, the team renew a friendly rivalry with Thorn Athletic at the Battery Park. These two teams have played a lot of matches against each other over the last two seasons and they invariably produce high quality entertainment.
The Under 17s remain in second place in their league with another tight game that saw them win 4-3 away from home against St Cadoc's - a win which was all the more impressive given they played the majority of the second half with 10 men.
Scorers for Greenock were Jack Lapsley, Euan Gallagher, Liam Connolly and Luke McKenzie. Man of the match was Aiden Blair.
The U17s are away again this weekend, facing Irvine Meadow on Saturday, and will be aiming to continue their excellent run of results.
The Under 16s enjoyed a goalfest at home to OLA Union, with a 12-goal thriller ending in an 8-4 victory for the local boys, who extended their perfect start to the season with a third league win from three.
While they sit mid-table, that is a reflection of a fixture lag; most teams have played six or seven matches.
Jay Beckley scored four of the Nock’s goals, with Alex McWatt notching a hat-trick and Louis McGivern scoring one. This weekend sees a local derby with Port Glasgow.
Lastly, it wasn't such a great day for the 2009s, who crashed out of the Scottish Cup on Sunday after an uncharacteristically below par performance away to Baillieston.
While the 5-1 score line was harsh on the boys, they had no complaints on the day.
The squad will look to get back on track on Saturday with a home match against Gleniffer Thistle.
