WINGER Owen Moffat says Morton’s performance at Hamilton Accies should breed confidence through the Cappielow squad ahead of a tough run of away games in the Championship.

The Ton wide man was on top form against the Lanarkshire men in last Friday’s SPFL Trust Trophy fourth round tie.

He says the 1-0 win, and the performance, at New Douglas Park should ensure the Cappielow men go into this weekend’s trip to his former side Dunfermline in a great place.

And he says that the whole squad can make a contribution in a challenging series of fixtures that'll see Ton travel to Dunfermline, Falkirk and then back to Hamilton on league duty during the coming weeks.

He told the Tele: “We go into this run of away games in a really good place.

“We’ve won back to back games for the first time this season, we’ve got back to back clean sheets as well.

“It should hopefully breed confidence through the side, especially with the way that we played in the first half against Hamilton.

“It was really positive and we passed the ball about really well. I don’t know what the view was from the side of the pitch, but it was certainly enjoyable to be on it, and I don’t think Hamilton really had an answer for us at times.

“Naturally you’re not going to have it all your own way like that in a game, and we didn’t in the second half.

“But we had quality off the bench too, which is pleasing.

“The boys that have all come on did a job for the team and everybody has a part to play in helping us getting results moving forward.”

Whilst Ton await their fate in this afternoon’s SPFL Trust Trophy quarter final draw, Moffat says he's hoping for a home tie in the last eight to break up the run of away games in the league.

Ton will find out their quarter final and potential semi final opponents in this afternoon’s draw, but the 22-year-old says that no matter who they’re paired with, his side’s approach won’t change.

He asded: “We’ve obviously been away to Cowdenbeath before playing Hamilton on Friday.

“With all the away games we’ve got scheduled it’d be nice to get a home tie in the quarter finals.

“But whoever we’ll get we’ll deal with it head on and then try to advance to the semi-finals when the time comes."
