MORTON boss Dougie Imrie wants his side to break their SPFL Trust Trophy quarter final duck after learning who they'll face in the last eight of the competition.

Ton were given a third successive away tie in this season's competition when yesterday's draw at Hampden saw them handed a last eight trip to Livingston on the weekend of November 12-13.

Should they progress, the Cappielow men will be away from home once again in the semi-finals, against Dunfermline Athletic or Alloa.

And Imrie says he wants to make the most of the opportunity to progress in the competition after being knocked out in successive quarter final penalty shootouts.

He told the Tele: "This is the third year on the spin that we've made it to the quarter finals of the SPFL Trust Trophy as a group, and the fourth successive year as a club overall.

"We'll be looking to go further than that this season. I believe that it's a competition that we can do well in.

"In the last two seasons we've lost out at the quarter final stage on penalties to side's who've either finished as runners-up or as winners in the form of Raith two years ago and Airdrie last season.

"We'll be hoping to go one step further, but we'll deal with that challenge once it comes in just under a month's time.

"I was really pleased for the defence, who picked up another clean sheet on Friday.

"That's what we've tried to install this season, that we earn clean sheets, and it's something we've had a lot of success with so far."
