EXPERIENCED Morton playmaker Niall McGinn says a seven minute spell of madness cost his side as they found themselves on the wrong end of a sore defeat to Hamilton Accies.
McGinn came on as a second half sub with the score still level at 0-0 only to then see his side ship three goals in a kamikaze-like showing that gifted Hamilton two of their three strikes that saw them run out eventual 3-0 winners.
And he says that the manner of the goals conceded has left a sour taste in the mouths of the players within the Cappielow dressing room
He told the Tele: "I think in general, that's football for you. When you come on as a sub, sometimes it has an impact on the game going either for you or against you.
"I think collectively we lost possession a few times which as a team you don't mind. It's dead ball situations that we need to do better in because we've conceded from two set pieces.
"It was a decent finish from Shaw at the time, but when you go on to concede a second and then a third it does go on and leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
"It's very unlike us, defensively all season we've been doing very well. That seven or eight minute period just wasn't like us at all.
"The second one was a sickener because it's one of those one's where there wasn't a lot between the two teams. We found that out a few weeks ago when we came away with a 1-0 win.
"We knew it'd be tight. Hamilton were hurting coming into the game - we felt comfortable but the first goal is always important."
