DOUGIE IMRIE says his Morton side deserved nothing from their game against Hamilton on Saturday - and that's why he wants to see a reaction tonight when Queen's Park come to Cappielow.

A nightmare seven-minute spell saw Ton go from looking like they'd see out a 0-0 draw to staring down the barrel of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of John Rankin's men.

And the manager pulled no punches when reflecting on the nature of his side's collapse at New Douglas Park.

He says that watching three gilt-edged opportunities go begging, before Oli Shaw's 78th-minute strike set Accies on the way to victory, was the story of Morton's season so far.

He told the Tele: "When you concede three goals in seven minutes, you don't deserve to win anything, let alone pick up points.

"Full credit to Hamilton, they took their goals well, but we passed up some unbelievable chances.

"That's been the story of our season, in fairness. We've been well in games, sitting at 0-0, and not taking the chances that we create.

"In terms of some of the players that were on the park today, they were nowhere near the level that they've been at in the first quarter of the season.

"It's not just the chance from Owen Moffat that we could pinpoint it to. Filip Stuparevic has a great chance at the back post in the first half. If he puts that on target, he scores.

"I thought we were very comfortable in the game. We started well with the back three, which was due to the personnel that we have available just now.

"I thought the boys handled the change really well, but it's just our decision-making that's let us down.

"It's easy to play football at 3-0 down, but too many of us just wanted to get the ball as far away as possible, as quickly as possible. We'll not be successful if we continue to do that."

The Morton boss also says he needs to see more from the players who are coming off the bench, and admits the changes he made during the second half on Saturday didn't have the desired effect.

And the injuries continue to ramp up at the wrong time as he was forced to scramble to secure the emergency signing of Rangers stopper, Lewis Budinauckas, on seven-day loan.

He added: "We've lost Cammy Ballantyne last week, we've then gone and lost Gary Woods and Ryan Mullen as well. There's one or two playing through the pain barrier.

"But I need the subs coming on to be offering more as well.

"I thought that when we made subs against Hamilton, we didn't get going at all - so that's something I'll need to look at.

"That could be 'am I making the subs at the right point?' or 'are they getting the right information?'.

"I made a couple of subs and 30 seconds later we were 2-0 down. It was two really poor goals to concede.

"Credit to Hamilton, they'll think they've done well to score three goals, but the game could've been out of sight, and we'll go again tonight."
