MORTON defender Morgan Boyes has opened up on the challenges he's faced in returning to fitness after six weeks out through concussion.

The towering Welshman revealed how he saw his vision become increasingly impaired after symptoms of concussion came to light - a week after he'd taken a knock to the head and passed initial tests.

He was forced to sit on the sidelines for a month and a half as the symptoms continued to affect him on a daily basis - something he admits was a disorientating experience.

But he's now determined to put it all behind him after making a competitive come back in last weekend's 6-0 defeat to Falkirk, where he came on as a second half sub in place of Kirk Broadfoot.

He said: "We played Queen's Park away where I got a knock on my head, which was fine at the time. We then played Airdrieonians at Cappielow.

"I'd gone up for a header which seemed to be the hit that did it and I'd got the concussion symptoms from there. The gaffer's been really good with me ever since.

"He kept on telling me that my health was the top priority and that I had all the time I needed to get it sorted, but I'm back and ready to go now thankfully.

"It was just normal symptoms, but when you begin to just slow down and see black dots in your vision line when you're playing, it's a bit disconcerting.

"I've had a concussion before, so I know the symptoms and knew to take the necessary precautions. But it's not fun to be a part of.

"I'm delighted to be back though, albeit the circumstances of being out on the park weren't great at the weekend. Hopefully I can just continue to build now."
