MORTON winger Nathan Shaw says the only way the Cappielow side can get over last week's Falkirk nightmare is to approach tomorrow night's Championship clash against Ayr United with their best foot forward.
The 24-year-old winger is keen to leave the past in the past and approach the clash with a clean slate as Ton look to get their first win in five games.
The match-up with Scott Brown's men, which will be shown live on BBC Scotland, is the first of three games in eight days that could have a major impact on the club's outlook for the coming weeks and months.
And Shaw, who's set to make his long-awaited return from injury in tomorrow's clash, says that a win could be just the result that his new side need to kick off a run of form similar to last year's 17-game unbeaten run.
He told the Tele: "Friday night is just about trying to get as big a reaction as possible.
"It's been a difficult few weeks results-wise so it's a big game for us.
"It's a new game. We don't need to keep on looking in the past; it's a chance for us to move forward.
"If we could get a win, it'd be massive for us, and hopefully it can be a win that puts us on a run like the club went on last season.
"I've seen Morton when they're flying, when I was at Inverness, and I want to try and replicate that here.
"But it's the same at any team. You want to win as many games as possible and put those wins on the board.
"If we can put a run of 10-15 games together like the club did last year, then we'll be in a really good place, but for now we need to get that first win on the board and see where it takes us
