IAIN WILSON was happy to provide a collector's item as his goal helped Morton battle to a deserved point against Ayr United on Friday.

The classy playmaker's first goal in little over a year had the Cappielow side's noses in front in front of the BBC cameras against Scott Brown's side.

Former Ton man George Oakley levelled things up five minutes after the restart, but Wilson was still delighted to make his contribution in front of goal for a team who have struggled at the top end so far this season.

And the former Killie man hopes his Friday night special was the start of his making amends after being sent off late on against Queen's Park in Ton's previous home match 10 days earlier.

That red card meant Wilson was forced to sit out the 6-0 thumping at the hands of leaders Falkirk, but the 25-year-old says he's sure that once Ton click in the final third, they'll be more than OK.

He told the Tele: "It was a collector's item. I don't score many, though hopefully I can get a few more over the course of the season.

“It wasn’t the best game for folk watching but I'd say that a point is probably a fair result.

“Last week against Queen’s Park at home, we created a lot of chances. We didn’t play as well here, or create as many chances, but if we can start taking some of those, then I'm sure that we’ll be fine.

"I suppose this was a chance to make amends. I let the boys down on the night against Queen's Park. But the game against Ayr was a clean slate. You just treat it as an individual game and do the best you can."
