MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has challenged his side to break their Challenge Cup quarter-final duck by progressing to the last four of the SPFL Trust Trophy this evening.
Ton travel to West Lothian tonight in the hope of beating David Martindale's Livingston and earning a semi-final trip to either Dunfermline or Alloa.
But Imrie knows that nothing is guaranteed in football - and says the tie is just the beginning of another tough run of fixtures as Ton look to try and get their mojo back at a vital time.
Morton shared the spoils with Livi at the Home of the Set Fare Arena in the Championship earlier this season, and go into tonight's tie off the back of a battling draw against Ayr at Cappielow on Friday night.
He told the Tele: "Everyone in this league is capable of beating everyone. Add in that it's a cup tie, and anything could happen.
"You've got to earn the right to go and win games - you can't just turn up and expect to get all three points.
"It'll be a tough game tonight against Livingston, and then we've got another tough game away to Raith Rovers on Saturday.
"The games keep on coming thick and fast, and they're all tough, but we look forward to the challenge of trying to get through to the next round of the SPFL Trust Trophy.
"To try and get over a run of defeats, I think you need to build from your experience in similar circumstances. Last season was pretty similar.
"If we could do that again off the back of Friday, that'd be magic. But football works in mysterious ways."
