GREENOCK Juniors' development squad are aiming to bounce back this Friday after falling to their first league defeat of the season.
The Nock side went down 6-4 away to leaders Johnstone Burgh in Conference D of the West of Scotland Football Development League.
A poor first half cost the boys dearly and while they recovered well in the second period they left themselves too much to do,though they are still in a position where wins in their two games in hand would propel them from fifth position to top of the league.
Jay Beckley continued his exceptional form with a hat-trick, unsurprisingly earning himself the man of the match award, while Michael McCauley was the other scorer.
This Friday the team kick off their campaign in the Scottish Lowland Development Challenge Cup with a very attractive home tie against a strong Petershill team.
Last year the team distinguished themselves by reaching the semi-finals of this tournament before narrowly losing to an experienced and physical side from Stirling University.
Kick-off at Battery Park on Friday night is at 8pm.
Meamwhile, Greenock's 2009s delighted their management team with an excellent 1-0 win at Lady Octavia against the hitherto unbeaten league leaders Knightswood.
Second half substitute Zak Paul scored the winner, and with two wins on the bounce the boys will be growing in confidence and continuing to gel as a team

The boys are again at Lady Octavia this Friday evening in a league cup tie against Ardeer. Kick off is 7.30pm.
Saturday sees the 2007s return to action after a week’s break when they host St Andrews at Notre Dame in the League Cup. The team is on a superb run of victories in both cup and league and will hope to extend this further. Kick off is at 1pm.
The free scoring goal machine that is the 2008s were inactive last week due to a postponement.
They face Thorn Athletic at Parklea on Saturday in the League Cup with a 1pm kick-off and be looking to continue their excellent form late and progress to the next round.
