MORTON goalkeeper Ryan Mullen says he got off lightly after missing six weeks worth of action with an ankle injury - but he's looking for no sympathy as he looks to get back to full speed as soon as possible.

The former Celtic kid returned to action against Livingston in Tuesday night's SPFL Trust Trophy defeat, six weeks after suffering a horror injury that left many within Cappielow expecting Cammy Ballantyne to see out Ton's last win in between the sticks.

And he admits that things could've been so much worse after hearing a sickening pop before losing all the feeling in his foot.

He told the Tele: "I took the cross, landed and then had Jack Hamilton land on my planted ankle.

"It's then rolled and I've just heard a really loud pop. Straight away, my foot has then gone numb.

"There was only five minutes left to play so when I saw Cammy Ballantyne sprinting over I've just thought it would be better to grin and bear it. Once I took my boot off the swelling puffed right up.

"Initially we thought it wasn't too bad. The swelling and bruising came out quite quickly, but then it showed that it was a grade two tear and a bit of a mess down there.

"I think it was coming up for six weeks before coming back and I'm probably guilty of pushing it a bit. But that's me back now and hopefully its for good.

"It could've been a bit longer - certainly. But I'm not looking for any sympathy I've made the call to come back."
