MORTON boss Dougie Imrie says his side need to start taking their chances and start climbing up the table - hopefully starting against Raith Rovers tomorrow.
This time last year Ton were due to face off against Airdrie in the SPFL Trust Trophy - a game they subsequently lost on penalties - but the performance put in sparked Imrie's men to go on a whopping 17-game unbeaten run stretching to the end of February.
And he hopes that lightning can strike twice a year on from that tipping point when his side head to Kirkcaldy this weekend - albeit in a more hotly contested division this time around.
He told the Tele: "At the moment it is tough with the amount of players that keep on coming in and then getting injured. You get one back and then you lose two.
"It's tough for the squad but I think you can see - I certainly see - we're playing some good stuff.
"We're just not taking our chances at the top end of the pitch. It's just that final part that is the hardest thing to do.
"On Tuesday we created some really good opportunities and the Livingston keeper has had to make some incredible saves but at the other end teams are scoring goals. That's the frustrating part for me.
"The players are giving me everything - I can't fault anybody. Players are coming in who aren't match fit having been out and are trying to get up to speed. They're giving their tank so it's about trying to get those breaks.
"Hopefully we can go in a similar vein of form that we went on last season. But it will be tough.
"I think the league is harder this year. A lot of teams have spent in the hope of getting that golden ticket to the Premiership.
"There isn't an out and out team who shouldn't be in the Championship/ Everyone's easily matched.
"We've shown ourselves that we're capable of beating anyone - so for us it's about finding that consistency and being more ruthless at the top end of the pitch."
Imrie acknowledges just how tough it'll be to turn the tide against a side that have only tasted defeat on home soil just once this season.
Only Livingston have taken all three points against Neill Collins' side on Pratt Street so far this season but despite heading to Fife in poor form, Imrie insists that his side should go there in full confidence.
He added: "Raith have only lost once at home this season, we're yet to win away from home. Records are meant to be broken.
"We go there with confidence. We've not lost against them in three games. We have to use that to our advantage. But we need to be at it from the first whistle.
"There's no point in feeling sorry for ourselves. There's still a long way to go in the league and a lot of points to pick up and I feel like when I have my strongest team in my head, available, we'll win more games than we'll lose.
"But we have to be picking up points. We had chances against Ayr to win. We had chances against Livingston and it's there that we're letting ourselves down just now."
