MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has issued a challenge to Alex King urging him to add a level of consistency to his game to allow him to take that next step in establishing himself within the Cappielow first team.
King has been utilised all over the park this season as injuries again hamper Imrie's side at a brutal time of the season, starting four of the last six games.
But Imrie says that King needs to add that bit more to his game if he's to become the complete package.
And after impressive cameos against Ayr United and Livingston - Imrie urged the talented teen to show that he's not just a flash in the pan and show that he can do it at the top level on a consistent basis.
He told the Tele: "Alex did well on Friday night and this is the thing with him. It's my frustration with him.
"He's got all the attributes to be a decent player at whatever level he aspires to try and get too.
"He's got all the attributes that are needed. But it's a rollercoaster with him.
"He can come on one game and be unbelievable - you then go and play him and it's bit part performances.
"It's trying to get that consistency out of him going forward. I thought he did alright at times against Livingston.
"He's got a wonderful left foot, he's got the build, the stamina and the legs but sometimes it's just getting that mental focus to try and understand the game.
"We'll help him with that - but ultimately he needs to take the bull by the horns.
"I can't play the game for him he's got to understand the times where he needs to go and jump, or if he's to go on a run or needs to sit.
"That comes down to the individual. I thought he did ok against Livingston - but it's just about his understanding. The example being that the first goal comes from a slack pass.
"He should play it out to the winger as opposed to trying to get in-behind. Livingston then break up the park and score."
