DELIGHTED Morton boss Dougie Imrie praised the quality of super Serb striker Filip Stuparevic after he ended his goal scoring drought against Raith Rovers.
The loan-star ended a run of six games without a goal to take his tally to four in nine games for the Cappielow side and five goals for the season with two outrageous, but very different, finishes.
Imrie was impressed with Stuparevic's sixth minute strike as he powered the ball through Raith keeper Kevin Dabrowski, before being left blown away by his ability to outmuscle Rovers favourite Fankaty Dabo to net his second.
However he feels his striker should've taken home the match ball after passing up a glorious chance right on half time - though the manager again praised the character of his side to weather a second half storm and claim all three points.
He told the Tele: "It's a great finish from Fil for the first one, and an even better finish for the second.
"From the corner, he pins his marker brilliantly to just flick the ball into the bottom corner.
"It's a great finish. Although I told him that he should've had a hat-trick because he's had an easier chance right at the end of the first half.
"He tries to be a little bit clever with it; if it had gone in, it'd have been great, but we need to punish teams in those moments because we'd have been coming in at half time 3-0 up.
"It would've been easy to have thought we were getting another Falkirk scenario when it went to 2-2 but again in that game, a penalty decision changed the complexity of the game.
"Again, against Raith I didn't think it was a penalty. Could we have had one when Nathan Shaw gets barged over in the last minute? It's fine margins, but refs have a difficult job, and I do get frustrated when we don't get the same decisions going the other way."
