MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has issued a challenge to his side as he looks to go and claim another scalp when Partick come to Cappielow this weekend.
The Ton gaffer is looking forward to his side's first game on home soil at the traditional time for seven weeks when a rampant Firhill side come to Greenock this weekend, weather permitting.
He says his side are ready to take on yet another challenge off the back of last week's five-goal thriller against Raith Rovers.
He was quick to warn his side of the threat Partick will pose when making the trip to Greenock this weekend.
He told the Tele: "It's great to have the prospect of being back at home on a Saturday after such a long time - and I certainly think that there will be a big crowd so it's got the makings of a good game.
"Partick Thistle have certainly turned a corner recently - they've won 13 points out of their last 15 so it's been a brilliant return from them. But our focus remains solely on ourselves.
"We've gone to Raith Rovers, a team who've been very strong at home this season, and beat them - scoring three great goals in the process.
"So again, the challenge now is can we go and beat the form team in the league at home. Nine times out of ten we're very good at home so it's got the makings of a great game.
"We know where Partick's strength's lie - so we need to be wary of that and to be at our best in those areas.
"We have to take the game to Partick though because we've picked up four points out of the last six available. That's a good return against two good teams who expect to be up there come the end of the season.
"We're now coming up against another team whose budget is very high and they'll be in the same position of wanting to get their hands that one position that everybody wants to get."
Imrie hopes lightning can strike twice off the back of his side's fantastic win over Raith Rovers.
That win came a year on from his side's season-turning performance against Airdrie in 2023 and sparked a 17-game unbeaten run. And he pointed to his side's character, which saw them bounce back from two big set backs at Stark's Park.
He added: "Certainly in the last two seasons, it's been very similar. In my first full season we didn't start too well then we went on some good runs and then last season was the same.
"We started really slow and then we went sparked into life and didn't lose a game for a good number of months.
"Hopefully lightning does strike twice and we do go on an amazing run again.
"Full credit must go to the boys though, I think that after being two-nil up and playing really well only to be pulled back is really tough. But they showed great character to get a really valuable three points."
