GREENOCK Juniors will need a fifth attempt to get their South Region Challenge Cup show on the road after their tie against Newmains was put in cold storage yet again.

For the fourth time Greenock’s South Region Cup tie with Newmanis United failed to beat the prevailing adverse weather conditions as all sporting activity ground to a standstill at the weekend.

Unusually, Gary Felming's side have been given a third chance to host the match at Ravenscraig Stadium next Saturday.

The rationale behind the call is that as all West Of Scotland Football League sides saw their games postponed last weekend, in a blanket call made by league officials.

This means that the circumstances relating to the cancellation were not in anyway, specific to Greenock.

And whilst for now, it is purely of academic interest should the Raenscraig outfit get the better of Newmains and then find a way past Hill of Beath - then a trip to Gretna awaits in the last 16 of the tournament.

The pathway teams fared no better as Storm Bert took a grasp of the majority of their fixture cards respectively.

Three of the scheduled matches due to take place would fall victim to the weather as the early November cold snap continued to grip the country.

Despite this tough there was a sense of disappointment in regards to the Development team. The Under 20's side saw that their game with Vale of Leven was cancelled due the visitors folding their team.
